For this massage, you will be given the opportunity to choose your favourite music from an endless selection of calming tracks and select products from our range of scented oils and candles to be used throughout the treatment. We have a variety of oils, creams and waxes available and if you have a preference, or alternatively if you suffer from skin allergies, please discuss this with us prior to your first treatment. If you chose to have your treatment at our clinic, you will also be offered a range of refreshments including cucumber or lemon infused iced water as well as the option of a complimentary hot drink from a selection of herbal teas.
What are the benefits of a Relaxing Massage?
Our bodies and our brains are complex, and no two people react to a situation or stress in the same way. Our central nervous system can be subdivided into many categories depending on the process and the information we receive from the world around us. One such branch is the autonomic nervous system which monitors the internal conditions of the body, such as temperature and chemical substances, as well as heart rate, breathing and digestion to name a few – things that happen automatically bellow the brain’s level of consciousness. This system then also subdivides into your sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems.
At Jenkins Soft Tissue Therapy we believe that the body’s sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems work together in a sort of push and pull relationship. Your sympathetic nervous system can raise your heart rate due to emotional stress and it is up to your parasympathetic nervous system to lower your heart rate once the reason for your stress has been removed. You can’t have one without the other, but sometimes the push or the pull can be stronger and there is an imbalance.
Our focus is to help calm the autonomic nervous system, leaving you with a sense of comfort and wellbeing. We use a lighter pressure, and by massaging the body we draw your focus back to yourself giving you the chance to relax and breath. The benefits of a Relaxing Massage are priceless and our treatment will leave you feeling positive, refreshed and ready to face the day ahead.
