Having applied K tape in a professional sporting context, you can rest assured that when booking a session with Jenkins Therapy, you will have the benefit of being treated by a prolific Sports Massage and Remedial Therapist who has achieved fantastic results with athletes and sportspeople alike.

What is Kinesio taping?

Kinesio taping is the process of applying K tape to the body. Kinesiology tape has become a popular choice for many people who have weaknesses or are returning from injury. Whilst K tape can provide extra support to key areas of the body, it also brings with it a number of physical benefits including:

  • Lymphatic drainage
  • Pain relief
  • Increased recovery

How Kinesio tape works

Kinesio tape effectively lifts the skin from the tissue beneath it. In doing so, this aids with the recovery process, as it enables increased blood flow and can help reduce swelling, leading to pain relief.

When applied correctly, the befits of K tape can be seen in both the short and long term, and can be highly effective as part of a broader treatment plan.

When is Kinesiology tape used?

Kinesio tape is used in a remedial context, predominantly when returning from injury. K tape is perfect for a sporting context, but is also ideal for everyday wear and the benefits can be seen in a very short space of time.

Once applied, K tape can last for up to five days and it can be kept on whilst showering or bathing. If you are particularly hairy, it may be worth shaving the target area as this will aid with application. It is also best to avoid applying moisturiser on the day of application, as this too can make it difficult for the Kinesio tape to stay on the skin.

Which Kinesio tape is best?

At Jenkins Therapy, we only use the best Kinesio tape with our clients. This is to ensure that the the quality of the actual product is in line with the quality of the application.

Therefore, we only ever use Rock Tape or Kinesio UK, as these brands are market leaders and rightly so, as the tape is of the highest quality.
