Expert Hot Stone Massage Treatments in Evesham

By combining the benefits of heat and massage, Hot Stone Massage uses stones to create a deep, relaxing treatment. The practice of using stones in massage dates back over 2000 years, originating in ancient India and China where wearing or placing stones on the body were believed to offer healing and protection. Modern Hot Stone Massage takes inspiration from these ancient practices, and we are excited to be able to offer hot stone massage treatments across Evesham and the surrounding Cotswolds area.

What is Hot Stone Massage?

Hot Stone Massage is a form of massage therapy that uses heated basalt massage stones. A volcanic rock, these smooth, flat stones vary in size and will be used by your massage therapist by either placing or moving the stones across specific areas of your body. The stones can be very hot, however your therapist will discuss this with you and will take great care to ensure that the temperature is comfortable for you.

What are the benefits of Hot Stone Massage?

All forms of massage are a complementary therapy, and should never be used as a substitute for medical treatment. Benefits can include:
  • Increased local circulation
  • Deep relaxation
  • Lymphatic drainage
  • Relieve muscle spasm and stiffness
When used in combination with our Sports Massage or Deep Tissue Massage treatments, Hot Stone Massage can be a great way to warm and prepare the body so that your therapist can work into the deeper muscles.

What techniques do you use?

Your therapist will use a combination of different massage strokes and rhythms throughout your treatment to stimulate and relax the skin. These may include:
  • Effleurage
  • Petrissage (kneading, wringing, pickups and fanning)
  • Tapping
  • Friction
